The Research Institute for Groundwater (RIGW) is one of twelve research institutes under the National Water Research Center (NWRC). It was established in 1975 to expand on the work of the Groundwater Research Inspectorate (GRI), which began in 1953.<\/p>

GRI’s primary role was to create a network to monitor groundwater levels and quality in the Nile Valley and Delta. Since its establishment, RIGW has grown in its responsibilities and continues to play a leading role in national and international groundwater policy and research.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

  • Support the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation (MWRI) and other ministries in groundwater management and exploration.<\/li>
  • Prepare and develop groundwater development plans for Egypt.<\/li>
  • Respond to consultancy requests from MWRI, other ministries, and the private sector.<\/li>
  • Integrate water quality and environmental considerations in groundwater projects.<\/li>
  • Conduct exploratory research and appraisals to describe groundwater occurrence, geometry, and characteristics.<\/li>
  • Collect and analyze data systematically to monitor the quantity, quality, and usage of groundwater.<\/li>
  • Perform feasibility studies for groundwater projects and assess the long-term impacts of groundwater extraction policies.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
