“NWRC at 50: Five Decades of Water Science Leadership – Shaping Regional and Global Partnerships for a Resilient Future”
contributions to water science and management in Egypt and across the region. With its extensive network of specialized research institutes, experimental stations, and advanced laboratories, NWRC has become a national powerhouse of expertise, producing generations of distinguished scientists and professionals. Over this journey, several of its eminent leaders have gone on to serve as Ministers of Water Resources and Irrigation, further underscoring the Center’s role as both a scientific and policy-driving institution.
Today, the NWRC stands as a hub for innovation, applied research, and capacity building, addressing pressing challenges such as water scarcity, climate change, and sustainable agricultural practices. As part of Cairo Water Week 2025, the Center will host a series of sessions that reflect its collaborative spirit at both the national and international levels. These sessions, organized with partners such as CIHEAM Bari, IHE Delft, HKUST, and leading industry actors, highlight a joint vision to advance water resilience, policy integration, and science-based solutions. Marking half a century of impact, NWRC continues to provide a vital platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and the co-creation of strategies for a sustainable water future.
