CWW_TS15 "Non-Conventional Water Resources"

The National Water Research Center (NWRC) has organized a technical session entitled “TS15 Non-Conventional Water Resources” on Tuesday 22 October 2019 during the Cairo Water Week at the Volga River Hall - Al-Manara International Conference Center. The session was chaired by: Prof. Safwat Abd ElDayem, and co-chaired by Prof. Ahmed Rashed. The session highlighted the importance of non-conventional water resources and addressed the necessity to develop water resources in the region as one of the strategic options to fulfill the gap between water supply and demand because of the growing population and the inability of available freshwater resources to meet water demand. This theme was addressed through five presentations entitled: “Water Quality Monitoring Network for Drainage Water Reuse, by Dr. Mohamed Shaban, Drainage Research Institute (DRI)”, “Treatment and Reuse of Marginal Quality Water (Lake Manzala plant), by Dr. Ahmed El-Hawary, Drainage Research Institute (DRI)”, “Environmental Impact Assessment for Desalination Plants, by Prof. Khaled Abdel Hay, President of NWRC”, “Low Cost Water Harvesting Techniques for Bedouin Settlement in South Sinai, by Dr. Eman Ahmed Hassan, Water Resources Research Institute (WRRI)”, and “Towards Partnership on Non-Conventional Water Resources: UNESCO Perspectives in the Arab Region, by Dr. Beshr Imam, UNESCO”.
