The course is or water professional from the Nile basin countries and the Arab region. The objectives of this course are to strengthen the capacity of the Trainees in the area of water sciences, to create a platform between professionals from different countries, to exchange knowledge and experience and to increase the understanding of natural river processes and the consequences of human interventions in these processes. In addition, the course will contribute to the ability of hydraulic engineers to design not only smaller but also larger structures in river and canal systems, including the solution of a variety of practical problems dealing with water. At the end of this course, the Trainees will be qualified to play a more prominent role in many tasks dealing with the wise use of surface water resources in their country.
The yearly present course has been organized since 1978 and currently sponsored by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation (MWRI), The Egyptian Initiative for Development in the Nile Basin Countries (MOBADRA) under the Supervision of the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development ( EAPD) - Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Water Research Center (NWRC). The course is designed to offer advanced education and training in the principles of the Environmental Hydrology and to equip the trainees with sufficient competence in the collection, analysis and use of meteorological and hydrological data for integrated and national planning of water resources development.

Tailor-made courses to various end-users of MWRI departments as well as other Egyptian and foreign institutions in all water aspects to fulfill the clients’ requirements. Examples of the course are: tests of building materials and quality control, the design of water structures, repair and strengthening of concrete structures, safety of dams, management of floods and its structures, water channel maintenance.
