On Thursday, 13 February 2020, a workshop was held on the project entitled " Preparing Technical Studies on the Shoreline Management Plan for Red Sea Coastal Areas". The workshop was headed by NWRC President, Vice Presidents, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian General Authority for Shore Protection, and attended by a number of officials and specialists from various concerned entities. At the beginning of the workshop, the attendees were welcomed then a quick review of the activities carried out by the Authority and NWRC was presented. NWRC presented the objective of the existing studies as well as the most important activities and studies carried out by the research institutes participating in the project, which includes the spatial works and hydrological activities as well as the hydraulic and morphological studies carried out by NWRC through field work and mathematical models that simulate the movement of water and change in the shoreline and the impact of climate change. A profile of the geographical database, that is considered a main component of the project activities which contains all the basic data for the management of the shoreline was also reviewed. This included the impact of climate change in an estimated 100 years, as well as the results of social and environmental impacts of the project. During the workshop, the participants were divided into seven working groups to inform NWRC of any observations that could be included in the current study. At the end of the workshop, the outputs of the working groups were presented to be taken into consideration.
