Dr. Islam Sabry Alzayed is an Associate Professor and the Director of the President’s Technical Office at the National Water Research Center (NWRC), Egypt. He holds a Ph.D. in Hydrology and Water Resources from Leipzig University, Germany. With extensive experience in water management, irrigation planning, and remote sensing applications, Dr. Alzayed has led and contributed to multiple national and international research projects focusing on sustainable water resources, crop water productivity, and climate adaptation.
Throughout his career, Dr. Alzayed has collaborated with global organizations including FAO, ICARDA, IFPRI, and Deltares. He plays a pivotal role in coordinating scientific research, international cooperation, and policy support within NWRC. He is also actively engaged in capacity building, technical supervision, and organizing high-level scientific events such as Cairo Water Week and the NWRC Golden Jubilee celebrations.
Dr. Alzayed is passionate about bridging science and policy for improved water governance in Egypt and the MENA region.
