Water Science Journal (WSJ)

Water Science Journal

Water Science Journal (WSJ), published by Egypt’s National Water Research Center (NWRC) since the early 1980s, has long served as a distinguished platform for advancing both theoretical and applied water research. In late 2013, the journal transitioned to an open-access online format under Elsevier. In January 2019, it began a new chapter with the renowned international publisher Taylor & Francis.

WSJ covers a wide array of topics in water science, including hydrology, water quality and pollution control, hydraulic engineering, climate change impacts, water governance, and socio-economic aspects of water resources. It is rigorously peer-reviewed using a double-anonymized review process, ensuring the integrity and scientific merit of its content.

The journal is indexed in Scopus, with continuous coverage from 2013 to 2025, and falls under the subject areas of Ecology, Water Science and Technology, and Pollution, all within the Environmental Science category. According to the 2023 metrics, it holds a CiteScore of 3.0, an SJR (SCImago Journal Rank) of 0.363, and a SNIP (Source Normalized Impact per Paper) of 0.838, reflecting its growing influence and relevance in the field.
