Environment and Climate changes Research Institute
Overview
The Environment and Climate changes Research Institute (ECRI) was established in 1994 to conduct high-level research focused on assessing the impacts of environmental and climate change on natural resources, particularly water resources. ECRI is one of twelve research institutes operating under the umbrella of the National Water Research Center (NWRC), affiliated with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.

Vision
To be a leading national and regional center of excellence in environmental and climate change research, contributing to the sustainable management of natural resources—especially water—through innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and evidence-based policy support. ECRI envisions playing a key role in regional capacity building and in shaping resilient, climate-smart policies that support Egypt’s transition to environmental sustainability.
ECRI’s vision is fully aligned with the national priorities outlined in Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the National Climate Change Strategy (NCCS) 2050.
