Prof. Dr. Aiman El Saadi
NWRC Vice President for Research Plan Affairs
Professor Aiman El Saadi has been a researcher at Egypt’s National Water Research Center (NWRC) since 1995. He is a professor of water resources and environmental management and the Vice president of the NWRC for Research Affairs.
Professor El Saadi is an expert in water resources and environmental management, with substantial professional, academic, and teaching experience. His expertise includes water resources and environmental management, with a focus on water hydraulics, environmental impact assessment on watercourses, water quality assessment for reuse, design, and evaluation of water quality monitoring networks, pollution control and risk assessment, environmental database construction, statistical analysis of environmental and water data, and GIS and remote sensing environmental applications in water resources. He also specializes in water and environmental modeling, including water quality modeling, mathematical simulation of surface water, and decision support systems (DSS) for water management.
El Saadi’s publications have appeared in prestigious national and international scientific journals such as the Water Quality Research Journal of Canada, the Journal of Hydrology, the Water and Environment Journal, and the Journal of Environmental Management, which are published by reputable publishers such as Elsevier, Springer, Taylor & Francis, and Wiley.
He supervised and judged many Ph.D. and M.Sc. theses in several Egyptian and multinational universities’ engineering, science, and environmental departments. Cairo and Ain Shams universities, and even the Japanese university in Egypt, were amongst them. He participated as an examiner for graduation engineering projects at Helwan University, Faculty of Engineering in Cairo. He lectured professionals in national and international courses in engineering sciences including water hydraulics and water quality, design of water quality monitoring networks, and reuse of water.
Prof. El Saadi represents his country in international water organizations such as the World Water Council (WWC) and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM). He has been involved in various national and multinational development projects and research studies in environmental engineering, water quality management, environmental impact assessment, decision support systems (DSS), geographical information systems (GIS), and remote sensing. International organizations like FAO, GEF, UN, EU, and USAID finance these programs.
