Prof. Dr. Sherif Mohamady
NWRC President

Prof. Sherif Mohamady currently serves as the President of the National Water Research Center (NWRC) under the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Egypt (MWRI). He is an experienced professor with a strong history in both the research industry and academia. His expertise includes project coordination, contract management, and project planning. Prof. Mohamady holds a PhD in River Engineering, a joint degree from Ain Shams University in Egypt and Braunschweig University in Germany.

With over 30 years of practice, he has acquired broad experience in various aspects of water resources management, with a particular focus on river hydraulics and hydrology. His experience stems from involvement in numerous river and water resource-related projects. He has also contributed significantly to field investigations, the design and construction of experimental and mathematical models, and the resolution of river and wadi challenges in Egypt, Nile Basin countries, and Saudi Arabia.

In addition to his technical expertise, Prof. Mohamady has gained extensive project management experience through his leadership in international research and capacity-building projects. He has also played an active role in the Nile Basin Cooperative Framework activities. His teaching experience includes organizing and lecturing at NWRC’s 3-month diploma course for Nile Basin countries, covering topics such as basic hydraulics and the application of GIS in water management. He has also lectured at the Faculty of Engineering, Ahram Canadian University, and Heliopolis University, teaching subjects such as irrigation and drainage, hydrology, hydraulics, and project management.
