Advancing Coastal Safety and Resilience in Egypt
Project Date: 2024-03-01

Description:
The Safe Coasts project is one of several initiatives under the Joint Cooperation in Applied Research (JCAR), a collaboration between Egypt and the Netherlands focused on water management research. Funded by the Dutch Embassy in Egypt, it connects researchers to develop evidence-based solutions. The project partners Egypt's National Water Research Center and Deltares to support the Shore Protection Authority (SPA) in managing coastal zones. It addresses climate change, sea level rise, and land subsidence, which threaten infrastructure and safety. A study on rip currents was conducted at Nakheel Beach in Alexandria.
