
Strategic Research Unit
Overview
The Strategic Research Unit (SRU), established in 1998, is part of the National Water Research Center (NWRC) under Egypt’s Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation. It was formed through the merger of two earlier initiatives supported by CIDA and USAID. SRU focuses on integrated research to support water resources planning and management, considering environmental, social, and economic aspects.

Mission
“SRU carries out certain types of research that supports the planning and management of the different water resources in an integrated and comprehensive approach including the environmental, social and economic aspects. The researches of SRU are the basis to assist in developing, develop, enhance the national water policies and strategies guided by the NWRC-Research Plan.”
