NWRC President and Directors of CRI and SRI Participate in High-Level Meeting with Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation to Discuss the Proposed Study on Using 3D Scanning for Inspecting Barrages and Water Structures

Participation of Prof. Dr. Sherif Mohamady and the Directors of the Construction Research Institute and Survey Research Institute in the meeting held by H.E. Prof. Dr. Hani Sewilam – Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation to discuss the proposed study:

“Using 3D Scanning for Inspecting Barrages and Water Structures”

This project is expected to be funded by the Joint Cooperation Programme for Applied Research between Egypt and the Netherlands (JCAR)

Ministry of Water Resources & Irrigation:

H.E. Prof. Dr. Hani Sewilam, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, held a meeting to discuss the proposal to “study the use of 3D scanning to inspect dams and water facilities,” submitted by the Egyptian-Dutch Joint Cooperation Program in Applied Research (JCAR).

Prof. Sewilam:

-The importance of adopting a more advanced approach based on accurate data and modern technological tools in managing the water system.

-Developing inspection, evaluation, and maintenance tools saves time and effort, and detects any early indicators of any deterioration in the condition of the structural structure before it worsens.

-Remote inspection technology enables rapid, general surveys of large facilities that are difficult to inspect in full using traditional methods.

-Preparing a database to support the development of proactive maintenance strategies that contribute to extending the life of major water facilities.

-Directing the training of engineers and technicians in the reservoirs sector on this modern technology, and surveying and modeling work for water facilities.
