NWRC President Participates in High-Level Meeting Led by Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation to Discuss Enhancing the Qalyubia Corniche and Irrigation Gardens in Qanater Khayriyah

Participation of Prof. Dr. Sherif Mohamady, President of the National Water Research Center in the meeting held by H.E. Prof. Dr. Hani Sewilam, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, with Major General Khaled Fouda, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Local Development, and Eng. Ayman Attia, Governor of Qalyubia.

The meeting discussed:

Development works of the Corniche in Qalyubia

Further enhancement of irrigation gardens in Qanater Khayriya

Procedures to maximize the benefits from irrigation assets within the governorate

Ministry of Water Resources & Irrigation:

H.E. Prof. Dr. Hani Sewilam, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, welcomed H.E. Major General Khaled Fouda, Advisor to the President of Egypt for Local Development, and H.E. Eng. Ayman Attia, Governor of Qalyubia, where they discussed the development of the Corniche in Qalyubia, the development of more irrigation gardens in Qanater Khayriya, and procedures to maximize the benefit from irrigation properties within the governorate.

Prof. Sewilam:

– Developing the Nile Corniche in Qalyubia while preserving the water sector of the Nile River and achieving the aesthetic and social dimension.

– Investing the Ministry’s assets to increase financial resources for use in maintaining sewers and water facilities and improving the financial situation of employees.

– Implementing investment projects on the Ministry’s property in accordance with a number of standards and requirements within the framework of the law and regulatory controls.

– The strategic importance of the Qanater Khayriyah area as it is a main control point for the Damietta and Rashid branches and four winds.

– The importance of preserving the areas surrounding the water facilities in Qanater Khayriya as one of their maintenance and operation requirements.

– Developing more irrigation gardens in Qanater Khayriya, and studying the establishment of summer camps for school and university students using environmentally friendly materials.
