NWRC President Welcomes Egyptian Space Agency CEO for Strategic Talks and Research Institute Tour

In line with efforts to strengthen cooperation between the National Water Research Center (NWRC) and leading national and scientific institutions, Prof. Dr. Sherif Mohamady, President of NWRC, received Prof. Dr. Sherif Sedky, CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency, and his accompanying delegation on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the NWRC headquarters.

The meeting was attended by:

Prof. Dr. Aiman El-Saadi, Vice President of NWRC for Research Plan Affairs

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Hashad, Vice President of NWRC for Research Staff Affairs

Prof. Dr. Nagwa El-Ashmawy, Head of the Geographic Information Systems Unit

Dr. Alaa Sakr, Secretary-General of NWRC

Dr. Islam Sabry, Director of the Technical Office of the NWRC President

During the meeting, the two sides discussed mechanisms for joint cooperation that support the objectives of NWRC’s research plan.

Following the meeting, Prof. Dr. Sherif Mohamady accompanied the delegation on a visit to the Research Institutes Complex in Qanater El-Khayriya, which included several institutes:

A visit to the Mechanical and Electrical Research Institute (MERI), where the delegation observed laboratories specialized in the study and performance evaluation of pumps.

A tour of the Hydraulics Research Institute (HRI) , where physical and mathematical models of water structures and irrigation systems were presented.

A visit to the Environmental and Climate Change Research Institute (ECRI), where the delegation was introduced to climate change prediction models and field monitoring stations.

A tour of the Water Management Research Institute, highlighting modern irrigation systems in the institute’s experimental research station.

The visit concluded with a tour of the Central Laboratory for Environmental Quality Monitoring (CLEQM), where guests were introduced to various lab analyses in organic and inorganic chemistry, biology, microbiology, and soil analysis.

This visit comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships and integration between NWRC and the Egyptian Space Agency, contributing to national efforts to improve water resource governance and adapt to surrounding climate challenges.
