50 Years of Leadership in Water Resources Management: NWRC organized the workshop “Sustainable Future for Egypt’s Coasts: Aligning Investment, Development, and Environmental Integrity”

On the occasion of celebrating 50 years of leadership and contribution in water resources management, the National Water Research Center (NWRC) organized the opening session of a workshop titled:

“Sustainable Future for Egypt’s Coasts: Aligning Investment, Development, and Environmental Integrity.”

The workshop aimed to enhance coordination between coastal development plans and environmental preservation, with active participation from government agencies, the private sector, academia, civil society, and decision-makers.

The first session focused on discussing the impacts of climate change on Egypt’s coasts, especially the Red Sea coasts, which are increasingly at risk due to rising sea levels and extreme weather events, posing threats to coastal infrastructure and coral reef ecosystems.

The session featured several key technical presentations, including:

·       Effects of Rising Sea Levels and Extreme Weather Events on Coastal Regions

·       Vulnerability Assessment of the Egyptian Red Sea Coastal Zone to Climate Change

·       Climate Change Impacts on Coastal Infrastructure

This event reflects NWRC’s ongoing commitment to providing effective solutions to climate challenges and achieving sustainable coastal development.
