NWRC and UNESCO Hold Coordination Meeting in Preparation for CWW 2025 and Golden Jubilee

As part of the ongoing collaboration between the National Water Research Center (NWRC) and the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo, Prof. Dr. Sherif Mohamady, President of NWRC, held a virtual meeting on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 with Dr. Nuria Sanz, Director of the UNESCO Regional Office for Egypt and Sudan in Cairo.

The meeting aimed to discuss the planned contributions to the sessions of the 8th Cairo Water Week 2025, within the framework of the ongoing cooperation between both sides.

The meeting also reviewed topics previously presented in workshops organized by the NWRC as part of the preparations for NWRC’s Golden Jubilee celebration.

Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdin – General Supervisor of Projects

Dr. Marwa Ali – Director of the Funded Projects Office

From UNESCO:

Dr. Bisher Imam, Dr. Abdelaziz Zaki, Ms. Walaa Shawky, Mr. Ahmed Sakna, Ms. Clara

During the meeting, Dr. Nuria Sanz presented a comprehensive overview of several activities and events that could foster future cooperation, along with identifying focal points for each initiative.

Prof. Dr. Sherif Mohamady emphasized the dynamic efforts within NWRC to implement joint workshops and activities, confirming that focal points have been assigned on the Center’s side to ease coordination.

This meeting was a valuable opportunity to reaffirm NWRC’s pivotal role in supporting sustainable development and capacity building in the water sector, in partnership with international stakeholders.
