NWRC President participated in the meeting held by Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation to Discuss Modernizing Water Distribution with AI and Flow-Based Management

Prof. Dr. Sherif Mohamedy, president of the National Water Research Center, participated in the meeting held by H.E. Prof. Dr. Hani Sweilam, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, to follow up on improving the water management and distribution system by shifting to management using disposals instead of levels

Ministry of Water Resources & Irrigation:

H.E. Prof. Dr. Hani Sewilam, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, held a meeting to discuss measures to improve the water management and distribution system by shifting to management using disposals instead of levels, replacing canal mouth gates, and relying on modern technology and artificial intelligence in water management.

Prof. Sewilam:

– Developing water distribution to provide the required disposal in each canal according to the actual needs of the beneficiaries on the canal.

– Maintenance and replacement of canal mouth gates to ensure control of water flow and tight closure of canals during periods of unemployment.

– Implementing end outlets for canals to ensure complete control over water flow through waterways.

– Directing the review and audit of operating curves and behavior equations for bridges, and the use of artificial intelligence techniques in developing these curves.

– Directing the provision of training and modern flow measurement devices necessary to measure flow in waterways. – Directing the continuation of updating and maintaining the telemetry system and studying the possibility of increasing the number of monitoring points to ensure strict monitoring of levels and behavior.
