As part of the continued follow-up on research activities and efforts to strengthen institutional coordination, Prof. Dr. Sherif Mohamady – President of the National Water Research Center (NWRC) – held a meeting on, Sunday, June 22, 2025, with Dr. Noha Kamal – Director of the Mechanical and Electrical Research Institute.
The meeting was attended by:
Prof. Dr. Ayman El-Saady – Vice President of the NWRC for Research Planning Affairs
Prof. Dr. Khaled Fetyan – Deputy Director of the Institute
Dr. Osama Salem – Secretary-General of the Institute
Dr. Islam Sabry – Director of the President’s Technical Office
Dr. Heba Kamal – from the President’s Technical Office
The meeting reviewed the Institute’s research activities over the past two years, including studies under the research plan, ministerial assignments, funded projects, and consultancy services. Discussions also covered international scientific publications and researcher achievements in peer-reviewed journals.
The challenges facing the Institute were analyzed, with proposed solutions to enhance cooperation with various sectors of the Ministry and with other research institutes to strengthen integration and efficiency.
The meeting also highlighted the Institute’s contributions to national mega-projects, including:
The Bahr El-Baqar Water Treatment Project for irrigating lands in Sinai
Testing of hydraulic and electric pumps across several governorates within the frameworks of the “Decent Life” initiative and the “Future of Egypt” Authority
At the conclusion of the meeting, the NWRC President emphasized the importance of focusing on research studies, international projects, and consultancy work, while ensuring proper documentation of these studies through clearly structured reports with defined methodologies and objectives.
This meeting is part of a series of regular sessions aimed at enhancing coordination among NWRC institutes to support water resources management and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
